I have consulted two physicians and I'm not getting the answers I need. If anyone can help that would be really appreciated.
Not sure if this is the right place to go but if anyone could advise me that would be really appreciated. Four months ago (March 2012) I had the worst case of external hemorrhoids I ever had to the point where I couldn't walk. In terms of my history with hemorrhoids I've had them here and there but very mildly; they would go back in within 5 minutes of them protruding.
I consulted two physicians and they didn't provide much advice other than to increase fiber, drink a lot of water, avoid straining, and to use the Anusol topical ointment and suppositories. They predicted it would go away in about a week. I did everything they told me to do and it didn't go away for more than a month.
However, fastforward three (four-ish) months later, I still get a throbbing, pulsating sensation in the rectal area. I can't sit longer than 5 minutes before I feel it swelling so I spend most of my day lying down to do work (I'm a student). The skin is definitely not what it used to be and it feels like it lost its elasticity. In the past few days I can feel it swelling even more and I'm not straining or anything. I have a very high fiber diet. This is really worrisome for me because I have a very active lifestyle and I'm not able to do exercise like before. 30 min of a light jog and I can feel it swelling up a lot and the pressure/pulsation worries me that I'll be like this forever.
The best way I can describe the feeling is that it always feels like the blood is trying to bulge its way out and the feeling gets worse when I'm sitting, and even a slightly light jog.
Will the skin ever restore its elasticity? What should I do?
Please advise!
