Brand New To OkCupid.

I haven't dated (or felt excited about dating) in a long time, work, school etc. getting in the way. I've lurked on this subreddit for a while with my alt account, I never really considered getting a profile, you guys are just very funny.

So, I decided to give online dating a go (my friend convinced me), and created a profile yesterday morning, not expecting a thing to happen. Took basically the whole day, answered a couple hundred questions, detailed profile, a few photos. Looked in this subreddit for advice, not-to-dos etc. So I searched by Match %, picked the very first girl I saw, as a sample. She was pretty, seemed cool.

Sent off my first message to her. Made a Doctor Who joke, referenced our matching profile answers, mentioned it was my first message.

And holy shit, I got a reply within an hour. Not a rejection, not a thanks but no thanks, but actual interest.

We exchanged a few more messages yesterday night, just chatting, nothing serious. We seem a nice match, pretty close physically, she's funny as hell. It might lead to nothing, but I haven't been excited about any form of relationship/dating in over a year, and it feels great to finally move on from my past.

So thank you, fellow r/OkCupid members. Fucking hell, thanks a lot you awesome bastards.
