Hi Reddit! What seemingly inconsequential event had a large impact on the rest of your life?

When I was starting at college, all the individuals in our program were split up into groups, and rode separate trains into the city. One person in the program ended up in the wrong group (and hence on the wrong train) by accident, and I started talking to him. Today we are roommates and best friends!
