Reddit...some friends of a friend were found in a park this morning, shot. One's already passed, the other is just out of surgery. What are some medical "miracles" or successes you have witnessed?

I live in South Texas. I have a friend who just told me this. It's been on the news, all over Facebook. 9:00 this morning, they found 2 girls, one had already died, the other was unconscious. She was shot in the head, I don't know where. She's out of surgery but still needs a lot of blood. Names and locations being withheld for a few reasons. I don't know if I'm allowed to post something like this. I'm way too sensitive, it feels a little bit...scary, I guess. I grappled with thoughts of death for a long time. I cannot imagine how my friend feels, or the family, or their other friends. We want to hear about the human will to live, to beat the odds. It sounds strange, but it helps for some reason.
