I need a little quick advise

So I've never talked to guy outside of either the work place or school and a few months this cute guy asked for my number (first time ever) and I gave it to him. He called me once, I forgot to save his number and like the idiot I am dropped and broke the phone and had it replaced without realizing this. I was hopeful that he would call me back sometime soon, but he didn't and now about three months later he texts me this "Hey my name_ just saying hi, what's up hope you are alright his name"

I'm just having emotional ickyness as to if I should text him back or not and I don't know why, should I?
