Am I forgetting any interesting cars, /r/cars?

I'm currently shopping for a used car. Requirements include that it be reliable, fun, able to usually carry me and my wife but occasionally a car load of girls when she does girls night, or me and my neice/nephew if I'm babysitting. So back-seat is a must, though I'm not sure I'd say 4 doors is. Would prefer a hatchback for the practicality of it, and mpg shouldn't be bad, though doesn't have to be mind-shattering. Budget is from 5k-7k or so.

I'm currently considering -Mazda3 Hatch -Mazda Protege5 -Mini Cooper -Ford Focus ZX5 -Golf/GTI/TDI/Etc. Jetta if it's a nice one. -Civic SI hatch 2003ish -Versa only if an immaculate one appears, a little boring otherwise. -Honda Fit if one drops low enough.

I'd prefer something newer than 2002, preferably with less than 120k on it. Am I missing any potentially fun/reliable/efficient car models?

And yes, I know the answer on r/cars is always E30*, and I have seen some E46's drop close to my price range, but 100k+ mile bimmers I am wary about- I smell repairs, and they smell pricy.

*Would be miata if not that we'd like more than a 2seater and the other car is an old beater 93 Miata...
