When/When did Hero and Villain become poker terms?

I left a poker website up on my laptop and my girlfriend took a look at what I was reading. She mentioned using "hero" and "villain" is kinda weird, and I had to agree.

So I'm curious. Why/When did the poker community adopt these terms?
