Hey everyone, I need your help!

My boyfriend and I are planning to get ourselves a puppy. We have figured out that we can afford one, and I definitely have a ton of time to devote to a dog. I have some questions. How much does it cost to get a puppies first shots and a vet check? Would it be better to give the shots ourselves? How often should I have my dog go in for a check up? Is it mandatory to register my dog?
