This is my first self-post, I've always felt like whatever I have to say isn't good enough, but this has been on my mind a lot lately, and I just want to see if I'm the only one. Sometimes, when I look around in church, at all these people going crazy in worship, actually feeling some sort of presence they've fabricated because they feel like they have to feel something or else they're a terrible person, I kind of feel bad for them. They've been brainwashed to live in ignorance and fear, which can be hard to get out of once you're old enough to look into your faith and educate yourself, because they're already so deeply in the grips of religion. Just earlier today, someone posted about being an atheist, but still haunted by the fear of hell. Most people wouldn't be able to make that step from security to uncertainty, which I guess you could just call weak-minded, but I completely understand where they're coming from. I just feel bad that they've been brainwashed to live their lives this way, when they could be a much better, happier person if they'd just been raised by a different family. I haven't met many atheists who actually agree with me, but I felt like r/atheism might understand. Anyway, thanks for reading. :)
