Skin The Rose

Poem

Skin The Rose

Blood tinges

A point of contact

My form of contact

Singes social contract

Needs happily satiated but

When something within

Rouses my skin

I cannot ignore

The want for more

Frigid rose

You have no petals

You have no thorns

Idle eyes reveal

Withering ideas

Your time round up

Now unknown hands

Will dictate

Where to plant

Frigid rose

You have no petals

You have no thorns

First off, I love the title of this piece.

There's a sense of loneliness? A feeling of, If I withdraw, things will become better; I will acquire more. Which is a bit of an oxymoron, but I understand and appreciate that.

In terms of structure, it's pretty straightforward. I think every other line or so can use a bit of punctuation, but that really isn't a huge deal given its heaviness.

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. I love your vocabulary, it's very dark and soulful. Your phrasing and the way you structure the poem is also very meaningful. The only criticism I have is that your rhyming is a little all over the place and it feels a little abrupt in spots.

Love the title and your imagination throughout the poem really captures every emotion you were trying to portray, good job :)
