Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our [feedback guide](https://new.reddit.com/r/ocpoetry/wiki/feedbackcritiques), or look

Fellow overthinker here... this piece is relatable. I think your structure and repetition gives this piece a pace that *feels* like thinking - which is a really nice touch. I also appreciate the repetition - both for pacing and for driving home the central theme of the poem.

The nit-picky part of me is bothered by the seemingly random dropped capital letters at the start of some lines... the overthinker in me thinks maybe it was purposeful? Either way - an interesting poem!

I like this quite a bit both for the technical elements as well as the relatable sentiment.

As a fellow overthinker, I feel that the final line really embodies my struggles with overthinking. Spending long amounts of time thinking about all the things I should be doing instead of actually doing them. Then, as you said, realizing that my efforts were misplaced to begin with.

Regarding the poem technically, I like the juxtaposition between the consistent end rhyme in the first five lines to the non-rhyming last line. I also think that aesthetically, the poem is nice with its descending staircase shape.

I feel like some attempt was made to establish a cadence for the poem using short, choppy sentences followed by the end rhyme. However, the syllables don't feel like they quite line up for me, especially in the fourth and fifth lines. I'm really just nitpicking here though so don't worry about it too much.
