Was I right to ghost him?

I met this guy and we hit it off. We met at a club , he came back to my house and we fooled around a bit. We didn’t have sex because he I guess wasn’t looking for a 1 night stand but I was . He said he liked to have emotional connections first and I was willing to do that. He left the next morning and I gave him my number. He immediately texted me and I responded back 2 mins later. Then I didn’t get a response for 36 hours . He claimed he was busy . I took some hours to respond and then he responded 8 hours later . We were back and forth a couple of times with him taking 8-36 hours to respond to each text. After a couple of these messages , I stopped responding. I don’t think a guy who is into me would take so long to respond each time and it was giving me anxiety waiting for his response. Was I right to ghost ? This guy wasn’t interested right ?
