yeah I just realized that I'm leaning towards free verse or prose. I don't care if people think it's trash. At least reddit does. but reddit it primarily a younger audience. they want rhymes on time like their hip hop. lol.

Any book of poems is a place to start. But contemporary anthologies (like the *best of* series) are a good survey to see what attracts you to the form and how artists are working with it today.

Well it's poetry if you say it is. It's a low bar of entry, but it's all we have.

My most useful feedback for you: read some poems before you write them. Not poems 'published' here, that's fine as a supplement, but poems published in books--some of what r/poetry publishes. Then, don't copy them, but try to emulate what you perceive those poems are doing.

Thank you. I’m just starting. I will definitely check out those recommendations. I just leave the patterns open to interpretation on purpose. It’s not supposed to be easy to read. I’m writing in code. That’s why I asked writhed it’s real poetry or not.

While the poem is pretty weak, it is a poetry if you say so. Try adding interesting metaphors and strong imagery, and try read any good poetry from any good poet like shakespeare or sylvia plath (they're my fav hehe) but there are still some bad poet out there that's so famous, usually modern poet like atticus and rupi kaur. I hope you will continue writing more 👍
