We had hard water from our sprinkler system that left a scum like this on the windows. I tried everything… vinegar, dawn, window cleaner… finally, I used CLR and a scrub brush and got as much of it off as I could, and then I sprayed the window down with RainX.
I’ve used sprayaway foam and magic erasers but it’s not cutting it.
A couple drops of Dawn dish soap and a splash of ammonia in a bucket of hot water should do the trick. Get a window squeegee and wipe the window down with that to prevent streaks and spots after you rinse it and it should be sparkling clean.
Thank you for submitting a cleaning help request. In order to facilitate more accurate and helpful replies, please make sure to provide the following information in your post:
Our top recommendations are usually Bar Keepers Friend (great for kitchen surfaces), melamine foam (Magic Erasers), Murphy's Oil Soap (wood cleaner), and Nature's Miracle (enzyme cleaner). Make sure you use cleaners appropriate to the surfaces you are working with and follow all safety labels.

What about dish soap/vinegar? Or a razor blade to scrape? Once it's clean wipe it down with rainex so it repels!
