Are the Nine, and Mara waiting for Lightfall?

The Nine

So we’re playing Dares of Eternity for a reason. The Nine could help us. Our solar system is facing an extinction level threat. Which also puts them at risk too. Now Mara, a bonafide strategist, has frequently bargained with the Nine. Schemed around her limitations. The hourglass with infinite patience.

Her plan is coming together.

A L W A Y S T H E C L E V E R O N E

Always the smug one.

she plays with weighted odds

Odds we weighted.

SHALL WE?

Intervene? No.

Actually... not really? Other than Starhorse's entertainment. Trust me, Dares (and the entirety of the 30th Anniversary Expansion for that matter) is non-canon in the face of Destiny's lore. I highly recommend you don't build theories off of an omnipotent horse from outside the universe who takes us to its obstacle course outside of space and run by a kidnapped, brainwashed Xur, in order to compete for prizes. Otherwise, you'll probably end up disappointed.

Yeah. I wasn’t sure if it was canon, or not. Even without DoE. I felt like the Nine will have some kind of role. Just from reviewing lore.

no one has said that dares is non-canon and until that happens, i have no reason to believe it isn't. the craziest thing about it is the dialogue and that's hardly canon breaking.

bungie wouldn't bother explaining how we get the weapons if it was all non-canon, if they could just say "lol accept it, it is how it is". and xur has always been that way, that doesn't really mean anything.

Xur himself, actually, says that once the party's over it'll be as if Dares never even existed.

"These Dares of Eternity are not truly real. They are a paraversal remainder, and when the impossible horse leaves us and the realities realign, they will disappear forever. It will be as though they never existed. My memories of hosting, of the time I spent with you... they will disappear along with the Dares."

I think calling the entire shabang not real, saying the Horse will leave us as if it and its show never existed, and that there will be no memories of it save for our own makes it rather non-canon.

The dynasty is the Osmium Dynasty.

Maybe. I was viewing it more abstractly. The dynasty representing what guardians have conquered, and rebuild in the Light.

Nah, only reason for Dares is for players to have fun. The Nine has nothing to do with it. But I fully expect for them to intervene at least in some way eventually. I agree with other commenter that "dynasty falls" probably mean Savathun and Xivu Arath (in your quote Nine talk specifically about Savathun).

hmm that gun's lore is interesting, i wonder if the nine will actually bother. obviously it affects them, or maybe it doesn't, but i never got the impression they ever felt like intervening, they weren't happy with mercury for cutting us off from the light
