I hate the conservative view of what a "family" is

Politics

I'm making this post after the watching the first 15m of the video: "Redpill Conservative Pins Destiny w/ Gotcha Question Mid Debate" and I just wanted to make a short rant about how 1-dimintional conservative's view the "family"

Any online conservative I've listen to, sees the family as " working-dad, house-mom, child/s" and that's it, everyone else in the family tree such as grandparents, uncles, aunties, etc. are just people you visit once or twice a year at charismas or some other holiday.

I have never once seen conservatives praise an uncle who stays at home rising the kids while both parents are at work, or even promote that sort of family dynamic.

So my question is this, am I missing conservatives that promote other family dynamics that isn't just the nuclear type or are they just rare to come by (if at all)?

You're right but more coherent rightwingers understand extended family households are what's actually based and trad. These types of "conservatives" only use the nuclear family concept as a tool to bludgeon Current Year social progression, with no consideration as to whether it's the most optimal thing for society.

not gonna lie, I'm salty that your comments basically agrees with me but for some reason my post got down voted to by half the people

It’s a bit of a weird point in my view as an Asian, extended family is a large part of the family structure even the most conservative of Asians see.

I'm also "technically" from Asia but actually from the middle east and thats also how I felt about western conservatives.
them ignoring the rest of the family tree feels weird

I guess I'm probably biased, because I have a very conservative community that is very much so all about the extended family (and non family as well). But its reinforced by the fact that we are all part of the same group of churches around the states. I can text a friend on the east coast right now if I wanted to fly out there and he will set me up with a family to stay with for a week that I've never met but who knows someone who knows someone who knows my cousin or something.

So I think it depends on what kind of larger community they are a part of, mine's probably a way different experience than 99% of conservatives. But I gotta say, its pretty dope.

🗿Don't trust anybody with your kids, even your own wife. That is the true conservative position.

I wouldn't entrust my kids with any stay at home uncle or aunt if they don't have kids of their own.

You wouldn't trust your kids to be alone with your own brother or sister if they didn't have kids?

6
Chilaqviles•

Fuck no if they are single and childless, that's how freaky stuff happens.

What a weird person you are

Wanting to raise your kids with the least possible harm from other adults is weird? Sure buddy, most sensible parents do care about this kind of stuff.

this is supa weird to me because I had a stay at home uncle who was still at living with my grandparents at 30, but he was never weird and my mom did trust him a few times to looker after me

I mean it perfectly discribes what you are talking about, i am kinda conservative in the whole family configuration debate.

Yeah I think a two parent household is the best way to raise childern, I don't think that outsourcing your parenting duties to an unemployed or retired family member is a good idea.

Yadda yadda personal responsibility over your kids, also I wasn't talking about a visit or a few times, i am talking about the weirdness that is leaving your kid in the care of someone else unsupervised for long periods of time, regularly and routinely, it also goes for nannies and shit like that.

I get it sometimes things end up like that due to necessity, but it's not ideal and it shouldn't be encouraged even if it's family members.

dude we're not talking about a random stranger who you have no connections with, do you really not trust anyone in your family other than your wife to look after the kids?
