Anyone else feel like this event boss was really satisfying to beat?

Discussion

Been playing since release and the title kinda says it. I think they've been doing a good job of making fun and creative mechanics for bosses lately. The higher difficulty version of Minos took me a few attempts to work out the details of his mechanics and it was actually really satisfying to beat. Admittedly green is probably my worst color overall, but whatever.

What do you guys think?

I think recently released content are more challenging compare to its past. It requires more strategies and certain team position. This is what I want from their advertisement say "Puzzle RPG".

Finding the trick to defeat the boss is the best part of the game. The "puzzle" combat really fun to play. (No I'm not talking about the tile color thing.)

I totally agree. I enjoyed figuring out the best plan for the stage 12 story boss too.

I’m just pissed Naroxel doesn’t affect weakened tiles. Just feels wrong that her purification only affects some tile debuffs

People who raised Allura: "Now you know how it feels!"

I raised BOTH

Omg really? I was about to a3 her but I won’t probably for now :/

graphiccore:True_Order: True Order•

Just A3 her, my main forest team consists of Paloma Sikare Naroxel Hiiro Louise, and they really hits like a truck with Naroxel, Hiiro and Paloma's enhanced tiles combined followed by Louise's double chain

Concetto_Oniro•

Point is my main reason to raise Naroxel was the tile reset skill; I have many A3 forest already so I am not sure she will fit the 5th slot if her skill is underperforming as against this boss for example.

graphiccore:True_Order: True Order•

Ah if you're hoping for global reset then Jola will do a better job at it at measly 2cds hence why I also A3'ed him despite of what everyone says about him, really helpful for end game resets

I currently already made 4 team on each elements, all of which are interchangeable but usually my forest squads are :

#1st team (pre emptive Multi tile boss burst) Hiiro, Sikare, Naroxel, Louise, Areia

#2nd team (for mobbing/multi wave) Paloma, Lucoa, Pact, Siobhan, Migard

#3rd team (DOT gang, great against multi tile bosses with thicc HP) Odi, Ophina, Pasolo, Hedy, Lenore

#4th team (Interchangable units for CC, simulation room, etc) Mythos, Uriah, Nikinis, Gabriel, Barton Deft Blades

#5th benchwarmer units Cuscuta, Jola, Wendy, Sylva, Robyn (havent raised Lola yet but always keep her in mind)

I just love A3-ing units but in the endgame its only what we do afterall (beside cloud garden, secret territory+CC and simulation room) and testing new team composition in secret territory and simulation room is pretty fun

She has tile reset? I thought it was just tile cleanse.

As far as I used her, she doesn't randomize tile colors.

Lachymae•

Naroxel A3 is really comfy for certain simulation stages, can also cheese Elysium 4-Schummer stage with her teleport spam and nails + brock duo

If you're new and lacking resources then yea she's not priority but if you already have enough DPS raised, having A3 naroxel makes certain content really comfy

3
Concetto_Oniro•

Thank you for this !

Reigo_Vassal•

A3 her. She really worth the investment.

UnartisticChoicesGLOBAL•

Naroxel doesn't reset tiles though right ? Cuz Smokey and Gabriel both work.

No-Finger7620•

Eh? Not really. I think it's cool to balance his stacks and everything but they're excluding so many units and being so lazy. All of the dot and crowd control units are 150% useless because they're balanced around their gimmick. The gimmick that is invalid on these boss fights. All they need to do is make it so that bosses don't skip their big moves but instead delay them. And they don't give us a ton of turns so dot isn't OP or something.

I know there is content where those things do work, but that's no excuse for it to stop working on anything new. There's no point to raising these units if you're new and not facing the old content. Minos specifically has a cool enough and hard enough to handle fight, dot would be balanced no problem without any changes. As for paralyze it makes sense as a way to counter him making tiles, which is smart on a players part. Just make it so he still continues his pattern if feared or stunned.

The idea of the boss is good, but banning Luke and Beryl's equipment by making the boss invincible when moving is a big no-no. These two units' niche is exactly when facing enemies who move a lot, and banning their equipment simply defeats the purpose of their kit design.

Evening making the boss take 30% damage when moving would be much better than making him completely invulnerable.

PeritousOP•

Yeah I can't argue with that statement. It makes it hard to justify using niche characters when there are very few encounters that they have any sort of advantage.

lego_office_worker•

my forest setup is pretty good, but i couldnt beat him with forest, even with mythos. his hp pool was nutballs. also forest doesnt have any good resetters.

i used michael and uriel. he was easy mode with them.

5
PeritousOP•

I ran my bt0 Mythos, bt6 smokey, bt3 Eicy, bt5 Maggie and Faust. I just don't have any full breakthrough converters for green leveled yet.

I just got Mythos this week, otherwise I probably would have used Migard as my primary damage dealer instead.

Personally I think the most challenging boss for me is Nagi since She only receive damage from leader. And since I lack thunder unit at that time, I dont really know what to do. But thanks to this community I manage to defeat her by raising both Odi and Pasalo for the poison meta. Not gonna lie, it was a fun and challenging experience for me when defeating her. As for Minos, I manage to defeat him on my first try because my forest team is stack. But yeah overall the mechanic is fun and it is soo satisfying when you finally beat the boss. 💯

PeritousOP•

I liked the Nagi fight, another one that took me a few tries to get right due to what characters I had available.

Snakestream•

My forest setup is really strong, so I slapped the piss out of him after one defeat, but I do really like his concept. However, I feel like it is somewhat RNG-dependent. The first time I fought him, he summoned like 15 enhanced tiles while walking around, and I couldn't clear enough of them before he revved up and OHKO'ed me. Second time, he generated almost nothing but weakened tiles, so I tanked his first ultimate and killed him before he fired it again.

I have yet to do the Codex version, but the description sounds like they made him a lot less random, so I look forward to giving that a shot.

Sknife98•

Nope for me, the final boss just felt the same due to debuff immunity and just dps check. The worst is that Minos can deal damage globally all the time and just need healer and tank through.

The best event boss design is the one with 3section (minions running on treadmill). You can position yourselves to hit or just use stun and go all in.

3
PeritousOP•

Yeah, it would be interesting if they could find a way to make some debuff mechanics relevant. Maybe have weaker effects against bosses or they can only trigger every few turns. My Victoria sits unused so much because of bleeds.

anima99JPN•

This was challenging, but in a fun way.

However, I feel like EX 6 is mid-game to endgame players only, which is big sad if people started last Anniv.

2
FallenStar2077•

I played the game a week before anniversary and managed to beat it with my Thunder team (thanks to Michael and Reinhardt).

Can't find a solution for Clearing EX6.

What strategy/teamcomps did you Guys came Up with ?

2
anima99JPN•

There are two main ways:

  1. Green all the way. End the boss in under four turns or before he gets the one-shot out.
  2. You bring a healer and chip away at his health, getting all enhanced tiles as much as possible and tanking the hits. Philishy and Novio are the best because they have a shield that takes multiple hits.
2

1.how is that supposed to happen? Best I can do is 25% of his health. Which Units could possibly dish out that much dmg? Especially considering His f****d Up movement and the ernormous amount of tile conversion needed(at least 2 converter)?

2.unfortunately still Missing Out on novio. Phils cooldown still Not enough for getting around His positioning and nearly instakill feature.to avoud that one has to Try to get rid of a big amount of enhanced tiles within the totally Rainbow fragmented field because of his Steps over The tiles in his turns. Trying this Results in even less damage Output.

This Boss is so Frustrating..

1
PeritousOP•

Yeah, EX6 was definitely intended for endgame players, but to be fair clearing it didn't reward you with something game changing, so you don't miss out if you can't beat it.

1

Can't clear Ex6 atm.day one Player but no Idea how to get along His big movement, get rid of enhanced tiles of different colors, heal and dish Out enough dmg parallely..

UR_UNDER_ARREST•

Minos was arguebly really hard the first cuz i kept getting one shot by him. But after a few tries, yeah he isn't bad, but i would be having easier time if i have decent Forest sniper

1
NoWaifuN0LaifuJPN•

The hardest version was a little dumb…. But i certainly enjoyed the mechanic. It was a very fun fight!

1
Concetto_Oniro•

First event boss I have really enjoyed to beat.

1
UnartisticChoicesGLOBAL•

Story I beat him in like 2 turns so he isn't exactly the most memorable boss for me outside of deleting my HP bar in CC

1
PeritousOP•

The story version was pretty watered down to be fair. Gotta make the content accessible. I like that they add a hard version of encounters for higher level players without punishing newer players.

On EX6 or story 12?

2
FallenStar2077•

Me brute forcing the EX stage with my 1 month old Thunder team was really great.

1
iPhantaminum•

I felt it was OK, probably because Minos is squishy. Fight is a bit too RNG reliant, but nothing too bad. I beat it on second try because I remembered I shouldn't be avoiding enhanced tiles.

1
PeritousOP•

Yeah, I kinda blasted through the story version without paying much attention to the mechanic, so I floundered a little bit on EX6. Once I bothered to read and understand how it works I was able to build a squad that could take out most of the RNG.
