Please name that purple mosin "Barney"
"I love them, they love me, we're the Russian family"
Man comes at me with a purple Mosin, I'm going to run. Because I know he's crazy enough to shoot me with it.
Is that a threaded barrel on the Glock?
Yes. It's a stainless lone wolf barrel that's threaded.
Nice. Do you have a can for it?
Not yet unfortunately. I'm looking to get into my first house soon so I need all the money I can get. If I can find things to sell to get that money I will definitely do it.
Nice collection; lookin well rounded! I don't know how you got the dark mosin, but I like it!
One coat of a black stain, let it sit for about 3 hours and sand lightly in places that make it look worn. Afterwards I used a semi gloss spray can for the finish. Let that sit overnight then I used steel wool to get rid of the roughness while retaining most of the finish.
Thanks for the tips!
That's a crazy collection of finishes. Not my cup of tea, but they aren't mine. Thanks for sharing.
Holy shit, a purple mosin, that's awesome. My brother and I just picked up two 91/30's (his first gun) a couple weeks ago. Honest to God, we joked about refinishing his with a purple stain (his favorite color). How did you do yours? Now I'm kinda sad that our great idea was already done before.
Well the purple one is my girlfriends, but I did the work on it. I started by doing the normal cosmo removal procedure and using stripper on the finish. It pretty much eats the finish without damaging the wood. After that you wipe the finish off and do your normal sanding. Afterwards I did 2 coats of a purple stain called "Wild Berry". Waited about 2 hours between each. Took a semi gloss in a spray can and did about 3-4 good coats. About 20 minutes between coats. Let that sit over night. Assembled the gun and use steel wool to remove any blemishes or raised bumps in the wood. Now it's a smooth satin finish. Same that I did on the black worn one minus the sanding after the stain. I had no idea steel wool could do that without damaging the finish. I just went with the grain and used my hands to feel where the rough spots were.
Very cool. I don't want to bug ya, but I know my brother and I would love to see another picture or two of that purple mosin. Can you still see some of the grain of the wood through the stain?
You can't, but that's because we did two coats. If you do one and wipe it quick it will show really well.
What's the last rifle with the thumbhole?
I think its a mini 14.
Didn't realize the made bolt action minis now.
That's because they don't. I should have looked closer. That is definitely not a mini 14.
Can't say I've ever seen a purple mosin before.
I was like, "What gun is that? .... Oh" Well I guess it can't hurt!
