Seriously, what the fuck is with you people and slamming your car doors into others?

Are you all really that dense? My car has had 6 doors slammed into it in the last 2 weeks all within the boulder area. I also park at the back of every parking lot to make sure I can avoid this. What the fuck is wrong with you people?

Lmao this is why I love local level social media, people think it gives them a place to rant about random shitty things that happen to them.

Car door slamming is a major problem in boulder.

The Boulder Beater (the individual responsible for all these car door slammings) is a fucking menace and the police won’t do anything about him.

Write into to your local city councilman about the Boulder Beater, the city needs to do something.

If the local city council was any more effective than a box of sand I might consider it.

Some people claim the Boulder Beater is actually on the city council!

Dude he beat me off last week

12
[deleted]•

He’s beaten me off at least two times already

Let me guess, this happens to you in such lots as REI, the Buff, and maybe even target?

One reason is wind. People underestimate how easily their door is going to get swept into the next car. The other is that a lot of lots were painted a really long time ago when not so many people had SUVs - like before the 90s.

11
6L6aglow•

LPT - On windy days, only park next to cars facing the wind. The wind wants to blow the doors closed, not off the hinges.

3
Shellyshellyshelly9OP•

It’s not windy at all though, there’s maybe 3 mph with gusts of 5? That’s not even close enough to cause this.

1
punkrockwheelchair•

Unless you drive a Jeep Wrangler lol

1
AlonsoFerrari8oh hi doggy•

I would simply know how heavy my car door is though...

2
Shellyshellyshelly9OP•

There’s maybe 3mph wind today. Not an excuse. It happened in the back row of the king soopers table Mesa parking lot today. Last time it was the fucking Costco lot with double wide lanes between each car. Coloradans are just careless, selfish assholes at the core is what it is.

Edit: oooooops found em 😂

covidambassador•

Take it easy though. It’s just a car and some non-fatal damage to it. Get a protection cover if it disturbs you but it’s not the end of the car or you.

7
Shellyshellyshelly9OP•

Ah yea, I’m going to shell out more money for my car that I can already barely afford while I’m a student just trying to get paycheck to paycheck because other people are pieces of shit. Seems feasible.

-10
covidambassador•

Yeah it did sound like you are inexperienced and naïve. Thanks for confirming it. And good luck being angry all the time. I wish you the best

Damn bro. Paycheck to paycheck? Sure got a lot new ink for the struggle. Lolz

So just leave colorado ?? What are you doing here if you hate everybody

3†
Shellyshellyshelly9OP•

That’s the plan. Been 5 years too long.

-2†
Littlebotweak•

Nope, it's mostly transplants like yourself, believe it or not. That's who inhabits these areas these days. Haven't you noticed how few people you've met who are from here?

Anyway, the solution is to not drive. That's what Coloradans do in the city of Boulder - they walk. Problem solved, crisis averted. It's one of the ways you know the difference. If someone is complaining about things that happen as a result of driving everywhere, they probably moved here recently.

-2†
Shellyshellyshelly9OP•

Sure, I was lumping anyone who lives in Colorado at this point as a Coloradan, transplants included. They are all pieces of shit, transplants or “natives”.

Unfortunately, my job requires driving. Not a choice for me. It is a conscious choice however not to be a fucking piece of shit and throw your doors open getting out of your car.

-5†
Littlebotweak•

So, literally, everyone who isn't you is a piece of shit. Wow, what a great attitude. I'm sorry you're having this problem, but it is solvable, you just don't seem to want it to be. What you want is your way, but in this life that's not realistic.

I hope you figure out how to cope with existence. It must be really hard being the only perfect being in this world so full of ugliness.

pinnr•

Because parking is tight in boulder so parking spots are small. Perhaps consider an alternative means of transportation if you can’t handle a few door dings.

8
Shellyshellyshelly9OP•

I just think this is entirely untrue. This is happening at the Costco in superior where there’s double wide parking lines. People here are just self entitled pricks is what it is. I’ve lived in Tokyo, Atlanta, and Houston. 3 major metropolitan areas with FAR tighter parking and have never had a car get beat up like this. Fucking outrageous to think this is normal lol

-6
coffeelife2020•

I don't think it's fair to compare Tokyo to Superior is like... really any way at all. Atlanta and Houston, sure, but did you actually drive in Tokyo?

3
frugal-grrl•

Not sure. I’ve never slammed a car door into anyone. Our car has gotten dinged once or twice in 10 years.

When in doubt, blame the rich college students. 😛

SnowboardOrNoBoard•

Seems like you’d have a stroke if you knew what the dust, rocks, and road salt does to your car.

You’re not gonna find any daily driver car in Colorado that looks nice after 5-10 years, if that, so bitching about a car here is pointless. If you really want to keep your car nice put it in a garage and don’t take it out for anything except for leisure drives, then buy a daily driver that is going to get beat up like every one else’s car who drives it every day in Colorado.

4
radioactivepie3•

Frustrating sure, that's light work though, just be thankful you don't live in a city that you have to have Bumper Bully's on your car at all times, like Boston.

3
Shellyshellyshelly9OP•

Something about you calling it light work made me chuckle. Thanks stranger.

1

Worked in Boulder for the past 5 years, parked in all the lots and garages downtown. Have one door ding. Gotta be wary of this every single time you park, can't always go for the closest spot.

3

Way back in high school I worked as a car washer at a Dodge Ram dealer, and remember detailing a beautiful Red Ram 2500 for a new car delivery.

I pulled it out into the new car delivery area where the customer and the salesman were. The customer asked me and the salesman to help him move a bunch of tools and boxes from the old trade in to the new truck. The last thing I moved was a big tool bag, which I handed to the customer standing in the bed. He reached into the bag, grabbed a hammer, and smashed it into side of the bed. Me and the salesman flipped but the customer was just all like “now I don’t have to worry about getting any scratches”

I think You need to chill and worry about what is really important, OP

3
heavyonthahound•

why isn't this considered a hit & run? They hit your car, and took off.

1
Shellyshellyshelly9OP•

This last time I actually walked up to the 50+ yr old Karen who did it and she acted like she was sorry when in reality she was only sorry she got caught because I said something as she was walking away

Call her the 50 year old Shelly. Clearly you are prejudiced

Not enough details in the OP, but I’d hazard a guess that your car sucks and nobody likes you.

STOP PARKING SO FUCKING CLOSE TO PEOPLE

0
Mokidaisy•

Let me guess, you have a nicer car? I would assume. Which is totally great. I noticed when my cars were new, same shit would happen, then as they got older it quit happening. Not because I didn’t notice new marks, they just were not happening. The reason is a lot of people are a-holes and envious. I’ve seen people I know do this, and unfortunately had people I’ve know do bad stuff to my new car, that they never did when my car wasn’t new( reading most of the excuses above are all bull. I’ve had big old beater trucks, and small cars, new and old. Never have I door dinged anyone no matter how small the parking place, it’s a concept called common courtesy) unfortunately a lot of people don’t have this and they use excuses for their behavior.

-4
Shellyshellyshelly9OP•

I wish I had a nicer car lmao. My car doesn’t even have cruise control or electric unlock doors.

1
Mokidaisy•

It’s all relative, your car is what you have and you would like people to respect it, and not mess it up. Which I would assume you do not mess up other peoples possessions, which is the attitude everyone should have. Imagine how nice the world would be if people respected other people.

3
Shellyshellyshelly9OP•

Woah get out of here with these crazy ideas
