Review:
I have to say that I really enjoyed this book, for many of the same reasons that I enjoyed the It Lives series. The supernatural stuff was done pretty well, and it kept me intrigued the whole way through. I love that this book isn’t genderlocked too! All of the LI’s were great - with their own unique charms, and I went for Cal because…Wolf Bride really put me on to werewolves? No…it’s because he’s hot and hairy lmao. I really do enjoy the action segments in this book too, and not once did I feel like the plot was going too slow or quick. The main villain (whose name I am blanking on) had a tragic backstory, for sure, and that kinda made him similar to Rheya, I think, in terms of morality. Speaking of Rheya, I love how the Bloodbound universe is connected to this one, considering Cal’s cameo in that series, and the mentions of vampires in New York in this book. Collecting those tear things and getting backstory was cool too, though it really is just another “spend diamonds to get story” type of deal, which was a problem that the It Lives series had. However, I don’t think this book ever really forces you to get the diamond choices, nor does it negatively impact the ending, so there’s that. In the end, I really did enjoy this book, and the only reason I took a point off is because, much like Distant Shores, there will never be a sequel.
