PSCing to Kadena (Housing Question)
I did a bit of research but having trouble locating the exact answer I'm looking for. I'm moving to Kadena from Davis-Monthan later this month, I'm an E-6 with a line number for E-7, my wife is an E-6, and we have 3 kids (10 year boy, 6 year boy, and 2 year old girl) . I know we can only stay off base if the percentage is high enough, 96% I believe. If we get stuck on base, what housing what we get put in? Junior Enlisted or Senior Enlisted? Would I have the possbility of moving when I sew on? I'm assuming since it's the Air Force they take all of our OHA regardless, also if anyone has any insight on the QoL in the on-base housing units after their "renovations" that would be appreciated as well.

Base housing is better than privatized housing in the States, that's for sure. I am unsure how it works for those with line numbers if they'll put you in SNCO housing or not. There are three types of enlisted housing as far as I know. Quadplex which is one building with four apartment-style single-story 'homes' - this is what I currently live in. Then a duplex style which is also one building but it has two two-story homes, and then there is a single-story single-family home, these homes are older than the two previous ones but also offers a lot of rooms (at least 4 rooms). Keep in mind that occupancy rates have to be 98% on both Kadena and Foster to move off base.
If you want to move at a later time (i.e. on-base to off-base) you have to pay for it yourself and occupancy rates have to be 98%+ and those numbers change every day. I am unsure if you can move from one on-base home to another on-base home unless there is a need to.
Let me know if there is anything else I can try and answer
I appreciate the insight, I also reached out to the base housing.mil email they provided as well. Im hoping someone on Reddit could provide insight based on similar circumstances. Thanks again
