Farming for Garangolm CB is a dogshit experience

and you might say "how so? the monster is very fun and generally fair"
well, you see, theres this little tiny itty bitty mini problem, make that cb, you need to either start from scratch the barroth tree (fuck that) or be lazy like i was and just craft the Gr upgrade from 0 (worst mistake of my life)
TWENTY MOTHERFUCKING PIECE OF SHIT BARROTH HUNTED, THE FIRST ONE DROPS THE PIECE OF SHIT CROWN AND THE OTHER 18 JUST LAUGH THEIR ASSES OUT WHILE IM MURDERING THEM
like holy shit, why is that this garbage monster's head CANNOT, and i do HEAVY EMPHASIS ON THE WORD **CANNOT** be broken, i tried with hammer, gs, cb and none of those broke the god damn head, not even sleep bombing works because for some retarded reason the head must have like an infinite health threshold and the thing on his head wont chip out
god damn it, i dont have time to play all day long like i used to and had to spent 2 days in a row using the little free time i have to farm this disgusting and annoying monster just to get 1 upgrade
you motherfucking jap dev who works at crapcom and thought this was funny, i really hope you rot in hell and the demons pull all the hairs from your ass one by one till you faint from anal bleeding or something, fuck you

It might have been true for Worldborne too but I’ve been under the impression that Barroth in Rise replenishes part health when it reapplies its mud. I don’t think I’ve ever managed to full break a Rise Barroth, and I frequently don’t break much on it at all. I’ve full-broken Barroths in GU before and if I don’t have the mixed damage to do it (since the head only counts impact damage for that, real impact damage not CB explosions) then I always break whatever my damage type allows me to.

I’ve gathered this to be due to Barroth’s mud adding additional part health instead of only adding an additional sort of break threshold to knock it off. So that means you have to go through additional part health every time to mud is back on, but that’s additional health you’re knocking out of its healthpool when you do, so it’s more likely to die before the break happens. That has to be happening to some degree because in Rise Barroth has five breaks, so I shouldn’t be having as few breaks as I do per hunt when I’m aiming for breakage. Add that to the head being a very hard break to start with and probably still only accepting impact damage and you’ve got a really hard break to make. If it really is refreshing part health it would indirectly break the usual rule that a monster’s health pool is always big enough to survive a full break without partbreaker. Although I suppose Safi’Jiiva probably already broke that rule back in Iceborne.

I suppose I might be messing up somehow but I’ve noticed some breaks are just unreasonable in Rise, compared to how I was a full break king back in GU. I’ve only ever broken Kulu arms three times (my hits keep registering to its head instead for some reason, even with precise Lance pokes) and I have never seen Tetranadon’s back break ever despite the notes saying it’s possible. And I once killed a Tetranadon through throwing knives aimed at the back, so if it does break it must be impact-exclusive or something.

...is Barroths head even breakable in Rise? I remember play hammer vs him, targeting nothing but the head the entire fight and it still never broke.

I just stuck with my high rank bagel/rheno/almudron set for most of MR. If fully upgraded, it is comparable to the barroth armor defense but with better skills/slots
