Respect Denji, the Chainsaw Man! (Chainsaw Man)
#You all gotta look down on the stuff I do… Revenge? Protecting your family? Saving a cat? Blah, blah, blah! You guys all got big important dreams? Lucky you!! Let's have a dream battle then! If I rip you apart…then that makes your dream worth less than touching boobs!
Denji was a street rat, scraping by off pennies and garbage for meals. But he did have his trusty partner Pochita, a dog with the unusual ability to turn into a chainsaw (not all dogs can do this). When Denji's boss betrayed and murdered him, Denji and Pochita made a contract with each other, to fulfill each other's dreams as one—and the Chainsaw Man was born.
What's that? Chainsaw Man Part 2 drops in two days? Then you won't mind if I spoil Part 1 right here, right? After all, you've got to read it all so you can be caught up!
Denji joined the Public Safety Devil Hunters under the leadership of the dominatrix Makima, though really, it was his only option with his newfound abilities. Partnered with the Oedipal Aki Hayakawa, then grouped with the racist Power, the hypochondriac Kobeni, and the lightweight Himeno, and many others, they fought against the denizens of Hell in an effort to keep their country and job positions safe. After the Bomb Devil attempted to take his life, the world found out of Denji's existence as "the Chainsaw Man," and top Devil Hunters from around the globe were sent to take his head. After a grueling battle, Denji managed to defeat Santa Claus and retain his life.
Following this incident, Makima made her play. She challenged the Gun Devil, one of the strongest Devils in the world capable of mass murder in the millions within minutes, and killed it. Aki was killed in the process and became the Gun Fiend. And Denji was forced to put down his friend. Denji, seeking companionship, went to Makima for assistance, unaware of her true goal. She bound him to her will, and murdered Power in front of him. Makima transformed him into the Chainsaw Devil, the "Hero of Hell," with the intent of defeating it and subjugating it. She called forth every asset she could, using cadavers, corpses, and her entire Public Safety Division as sacrifices in her final gambit. But in the end, Denji was able to choose what he wanted for himself, and killed the one who took everything from him.
Now, Denji serves as Japan's de facto superhero. When Devils hear his ripcord pull, they run in terror, knowing the Chainsaw Man is near.
