thank you for that explanation. I was just sitting here thinking that didn't make sense.

Fantastically written! This rhyming scheme is my personal favourite. The narrator's regret, shame and guilt are so perspicuous. The last two lines though were bone-chilling. It was a brilliant read, good job!

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. Oh, I like that! What if you added her to the title? Like:

- She's Addicted to My Vows
- Addicted to Her Vows

Something that makes the reader see her in the poem before the last stanza?

Yes, this is definitely much more ordered than mine! I think it's an interesting framework to challenge yourself to work within. I find I don't have the patience for it most times. To me it almost always sounds a little forced when things have to rhyme just because they have to.

I really like your title, but I'm not getting quite the same meaning from the rest of the poem. I'm almost wondering if there's a question of whether the narrator is more addicted to the things that will kill them, or more addicted to their vows (in the sense that they will live because of them)?

I do really like the last lines:

>Although she lays your bones to rest
>Your soul she can't divorce

That is something I've personally see happen a bunch of times, often not leading to death luckily but just not a good experience let me tell you that.

This is a really good poem, I like how the title is from the perspective from the wife, as if it's the wife writing this poem about her husband who has passed away to help her mind ease. I really enjoy how it flows, the ending was especially chilling. Honestly it could be from the perspective of the husband saying that this could be what happens or as previously mentioned the wife who could be dealing with the truth, addiction is a killer and I personally like the way that she fails to save him, something much more realistic then everything ends in a fairy tale ending. Overall a really good poem and I hope you write more

love the style and the intresting sentence structure very intresting to be honest, i write similar poetry that focouses on themes of depression darkness and heartbreak while this one seems to focous on the painful feelings of a failed marraige and a sucicde due to it honestly love the feelings i hear from the poem keep up the amazing work :)

The river Styx, very poignant. I read too literally, but still enjoyed the imagery.

I really enjoy the cadence this has. One is left wondering did they die from the drugs, or from drowning, or was the water all a metaphor?

Splendidly done!
