Dunno who needs to hear this, but the PC version of The Hobbit (2003) by Sierra Entertainment works great on Deck! Hugely nostalgic. Has anyone else played on Deck?

Wow. You just tapped into a dormant yet somehow vivid memory of me buying this game at my elementary school Scholastic Book Fair. Then rushing home to play it on the family desktop which was a Sony Vaio Windows XP desktop with a Pentium 4 processor.
Damn, ~20 years ago huh? I'll definitely give this a go as soon as I have my Deck!
Hell yes! I used to play this on my HP Pavilion Mini (or something like that) back in the day (probably around release 2003-2005). Pretty sure I got the game from my parents for a birthday or Christmas or something. Good times. Fairly certain that I had played the demo and then asked for the full release as a gift
EDIT: obligatory "thank you for the award" edit. Thank you for the wholesome award, u/noahdemello !
Underated speedrun doc on this game.
Found that gem on yt a while back. Once I get my deck, I may just re download it!
That's some nostalgia, right there.
Where can you buy this game? This was a classic growing up.
Pretty sure it’s abandonware at this point or whatever it’s called, I saw a YouTube video describing the best way to install it and it was completely free
Not entirely sure, tbh. I still have the disk from when I was a kid and just ripped the CD to my PC (and then transferred the files to my deck). I found this website -- can't remember it for the life of me; it can probably be found by searching something like "play the hobbit 2003 with no disk" -- that has a workaround so that you don't have to have the disk mounted to play the game.
Oh boy, is there going to be a new speedrun category for deck users?
Sierra created a golden age all by themselves. So many great games and series.
I managed to get this working but for some reason the grass textures on the first level won't load. Did you have a similar problem?
The Hobbiton level? I'd have to reload the game; I don't recall that being an issue though :/
Yeah it was the Hobbiton level, makes the whole place look like a desert. Not sure what's causing it - maybe I'm missing a texture file or something
Oh that's so weird; no I don't have that issue. I thought you were talking about a 3D grass texture or something; I just booted up the game and my flat grass textures are all there. Perhaps try a fresh install of the game onto your Deck while preserving the save files?
This game is underrated. Also easy to emulate on GC or PS2.
