Untitled 01
And for those I cherish? — Or those
severed relationships from years ago,
a smile, slowly, morphs into something
unfamiliar, a friend, a stranger, how should I know?
Once a magnificent tulip, left alone in the sun
with nothing to heal its withered wounds
and no one to admire its beauty in this world,
lies with brittle petals awaiting its final act.
The gardener returns, awestrucken, regret invades his mind.
This childhood friend turns my way. I peer towards
this dying tulip before me and slice it open.
I take its seeds, dry them off, and plant anew.
