What a lie

Poem

"I don’t care", oh what a lie;

Just some words I mumbled when you said goodbye;

"I don’t care anymore" I say when I wonder what you’re doing all the time;

I try to comfort myself by coming up with a rhyme;

•

You selfish person, I hate the love I felt for you;

That slow burning love, the one that just consumes you;

I wanna go back;

To a time where I didn’t talk to you;

Yes they were some bad times, but at least I didn’t die all the way through;

•

When I looked into your eyes, I saw a paradise;

Turns out I was playing with a big compromise;

My mental health for you to stay here; I don’t know… Does that sound like a good deal?

•

But when the heavens I saw in you turned out to be hell;

It was too late, and I had already fell;

Into the abyss, that was our friendship;

Or I least I thought it was, until you deemed it cheap;

I hope you regret it, and notice you took the wrong leap;

•

But in the end, "I don’t care" I will always use;

This time I won’t try to make up for you with an excuse;

For the apologies time has already passed;

And your whole "friendship", is now barely a thing in my past.

Carefully, Carelessly
