hurricane risk?

hi! just wondering how people are feeling about hurricane risk in st thomas - st john from 8/6 - 8/14 or so (so early august?) we're spending the first half of the trip in st thomas and the second half in st john. it seems like the weather has been beautiful this summer so far...we do have trip insurance but just curious if anyone had any other takes on it

You should be fine. Hurricane season really doesn't start picking up until late August early September. I'd say at most we might get a tropical storm or a small hurricane that passes by us and we get some rain. Neither would affect your trip besides a day of rain

I wouldn’t worry about it. Most of our storms as previously mentioned peak in Sept/Oct. Also, storms directly hitting the islands are very rare on any given week. Yes, we do get large and damaging storms (we live on St. Croix), but the chances of them hitting a particular week are extremely low. Also, hurricane season is actually a great time to visit as in normal years tourism is down, the islands are less crowded, and popular restaurants are easier to get into. This year is unusual due to pent up travel due to COVID, but at least here on St. Croix things are starting to hit the late summer sleepy season.
