Spikes 9mm Lower - why the bad reputation?

Why the bad reputation? Is it all hearsay or are/were there real problems with these lowers that someone can describe?

I have a Spikes spider 9mm Glock lower that has worked perfectly from the start, so maybe I'm biased. It has the metal wire LRBHO, which has never failed to work after hundreds of mag changes. "If it's stupid but it works, it's not stupid" comes to mind. Macon Armory won't guarantee their "guaranteed to feed" barrels will work with the lower, but mine uses his barrel in a plain AR upper and it's been flawless.

I can't find anything specific in my searches other than the typical stuff I'd expect from any 9mm Glock build: LRBHO needs adjustment, ejector needs adjustment, crappy mags don't work well, bad barrel feed cone, "XYZ manufacturer's special upper" is incompatible, etc.

Every time it comes up, I see a lot of "they suck" without any real information or experience to back it up. So what's the deal?
