Hey y’all, I need some love. This is my dog Mike. He’s my entire world, genuinely pulled me from the brink of suicide a few years back. I just found out tonight he has cancer.

I would hang out with you and Mike. Some movies, pizza, and good barking conversation. I wish you the best.
Thank you.
All of this.
Sending you both love. He’s such a good looking boy!
Make the most of your time together and just show him the love he shows you. They are never here long enough 💜💜💜
It’s only just been 5 years. I’m devastated. I thought I had 5 more…
I completely understand. Five is not enough. Spend the time you have with him doing your favorite things, lots of cuddles, and take videos/pictures. I wish I had better advice, but it’s something that will never be made easy.
I'm really sorry. That's heartbreaking 💔 thinking of you two.
Best to you and Mike, that fucking sucks, but all you can do is love him, because he loves the hell out of you. Give him everything, take him places if he can handle it. Try to bring him to the end with dignity, care, and all your undying love. Even when he goes, he'll always be with you, waiting and watching, that's how hippos do, but he will certainly want you to keep on, and find some more hippos that he can kick it with eventually, and most importantly, keep you going.
Mike loves you more than you can love him, because that's how dogs work, and it's not something we can fully cope with or understand, because we're not dogs. In the end, just do everything you can to try and match him. Much love to you and Mike, and good luck with everything.
💗💗💗
Mike looks spoiled and happy. Mike has a good life. You did that.
Every time someone says that I start crying all over again. But thank you. Thank you so much.
I’m so sorry. I 100% agree with the recommendation quality over quantity. My nana was recently in a similar situation. Her 90lb retriever mix had gotten her through the passing of my my grandfather and her first experience living alone. When she found out he only had a few weeks left without some pretty intense treatment, she decided to forgo the treatment and enjoy the time they had together. She is the most prim and proper woman, but she decided to start asking all of her friends where you could get the best french fries. All these proper ladies told her she needed to go to Five Guys lol. So she somehow loaded this massive dog into the front seat of the car (somewhere he was never allowed to sit before) and bought the biggest bag of Five Guys fries she could, and sat in the parking lot sharing them with her dog. He passed away on his own a few days later at home. That day, sitting in the parking lot with the dog is one of her most cherished memories. Lots and lots of hugs and warmth to you.
Oh no mike! Sending love and happiness your way ❤️❤️
He’s amazing. Sending love and support from Colorado. ❤️
Fuck cancer
Fuck cancer
Fuck cancer
Make some memories with him OP. Sending love 💕
Oof, I’ve been there. Literally there. My dog passed of cancer 3.5 months ago and not a day goes by, where I don’t think of her. But I loved the hell out of here and I feel good about all the work that went into her last months. I miss her terribly but I have a couple of regrets in my life, and it feels good that one of them is not her and or my love/sacrifices for her.
This is a lot more than I expected when I made this post. I just needed a safe space to scream into the void but you all have really given me and mine some comfort in the past few hours. Thank you all. If my Mike means the world to me, this means almost as much to know that world is full of kind people.
Hi Mike! Take care of your parent; they’re super worried about you.
I’m so sorry this is terrible news sending you both love xoxox
And I agree with just making the most of your time together. The biggest thing is being there when it’s time. It’s heart wrenching but it’s the last act of love you can give your buddy and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. Our good girl actually waited till me and the wife were both off to let us know 😭
There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings and walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given.

This is so true when i think of my baby who passed last year i cry but it is because i feel so much love so much it is the most intense feeling i have ever had and even though it sucks that she is not with me right now she gave me so so so much… i can only be gratefulnot sad
What beautiful words and what a perfect way to describe the bond and the love we share with our pets. A lifetime still wouldn’t be enough.
I wish love and light to you and Mike 🖤
I’m so sorry. I lost my baby girl too soon last year and want to echo what others have said. Quality time over quantity.
To that point, I know it’s difficult to hear but listen closely to your boy as he gets worse. If he stops wanting to take his pills and is getting more and more tired, consider that as a sign that he may be ready to go. I wish someone would’ve told me that when I was taking care of my girl as she progressively got worse.
I had her on chemo and steroids off and on for nearly a year and got so used to wanting to take care of her and so fixated on the hope that the meds were working (because they did for a while), that it took me a while to listen to what she was trying to tell me. She was telling me that she was ready to go and once I accepted that, it allowed me to soak in every last second I had left with her.
Please, please DM me if you need someone to lean on throughout the process and afterwards because it can be very difficult. If you just want to vent, ask questions, or whatever, I’m here for you. Even though we’re random internet strangers, all pet owners have a common bond.
He’s a sweetheart. The same thing happened to my Stella. I would scream while driving with tears streaming down my face. This grief is one of the hardest, most painful experiences I’ve ever been through. Making sure I spent a lot of time with her, and making her last year as fun, relaxing, and treat filled as possible allowed me to grieve without regret. Spend time with your baby, cuddle him, take him for ice cream. Scream when you need to, cry your eyes out, it fucking sucks whats happening. Just try to spend as much time as you can being present with him. I would look back and realize how many hours I would spend on my phone instead of just being present with Stella. Don’t make the same mistakes I did ❤️ I’m sorry you’re going through this
I think the best I can hope for is more time. It’s lymphoma. God, I wish I could save him.
Go for quality time, not quantity. He is obviously a best boy and would make the same decisions for you.
So sorry, I lost one of my boys almost exactly a year ago and still miss him. Stay strong and enjoy the precious time you have ❤️
I had a great vet who clarified this for me when my guy was diagnosed with cancer. No treatment will make him immortal, and we never really know how long even healthy dogs have. "Saving" them isn't as absolute as we like to imagine. It's all about loving them and giving them a good life one day at a time.
Cook that sweet boi a fat steak for me. Remember. All dogs go to heaven
I'm so sorry to hear about Mike's diagnosis. I hope you are able to get some good quality time in and maybe check some stuff off his bucket list. I had a very special dog save me more than a few times from myself. I feel like they save us for a reason, even if it doesn't seem clear to us. Give him a smooch from me and my pack a bully beasts.
I’m so sorry. The pain is real. But only because the love is real. Focus on that love as long as you can. Please remember that all he wants is for you to be happy. Make sure to promise him that when the time does come, even if you are sad for a while, one day his memory will bring you smiles and joy again. He looks like one of the best boys.
