Yes and “person” also doesn’t not limit the age at all, you could be talking about a newborn baby or a grown adult. It’s clear though that you are speaking as the parent which I think is what matters.

Thank you. I kind of like the idea of keeping it as person too. It’s like woman are expected to make children but when you think I literally gave you a person it’s shows the importance of the gesture

I like it as you originally wrote it. I know exactly what you mean and who you are talking about, and I like the flow “person” has more than “child”. I like “gave” because the next line has “save”. I don’t think you need to add “she” to the second line, because it is in the third. This is beautiful because it’s so short, it captures the emotions so well that it doesn’t need more.

I love the use of structure in this poem, making short poems definitely allow you to focus more on making sure it flows how you want it to even if you lose some of the inner details. also I agree with sticking to gave you instead of made you

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our [feedback guide](https://new.reddit.com/r/ocpoetry/wiki/feedbackcritiques), or look
