Despite This Wild Decision, I'm Going Down With My Ship.

Discussion

Many people have found it in themselves to abandon this game. I can't, though. VRChat has been my escape from reality for nearly five years. Its exclusive features can't compare to any competitors' (at least for the moment). I can only have a sliver of hope that the announcement of rearranged priorities brings official implementation of features that the community has been in need of since the very beginning.

its not about the mods what make me really depressed about this whole situation

its the fracturing of the entire community and im worried that this open minded place were you could meet everyone that it is right now, will start to fade

Definitely. I have friends who might just leave VRChat for another VR social platform. It's like having a friend move to another town. You still have contact with them, but it will never be the same.

I, and I assume amn others, will keep playing the game despite being upset st what the devil did. I won't be supporting the game with my money anymore. But I've made to many friends and have had to many pleasant memories to just leave it in the dust like that.

To be fair with the devs, the use of mods was against TOS from the very beginning. It was already a ticking time bomb. It sucks that certain communities of the game lose on a lot of Quality Of Life stuff, but they're just enforcing something that they always stated.

I'm sure they'll eventually add some if not all those features in. They finally fixed video players on Proton after YEARS of Linux users (like me) asking for a fix. I don't see why they can't do the same with the rest of the stuff that requires mods as of now.

There's no reason they couldn't have already implemented some of these things (especially those that are a necessity for players with physical or mental differences) before EAC. They had years to, at the very least, bring those features that are required for some people to even play. Canny posts upon Canny posts from as long ago as 2018 have been sitting, collecting dust with little thought given. Yes, while modding is against TOS, that rule has only been broken by much of the community because the devs themselves are reluctant to make their platform a better environment. While there are currently some in-game alternatives for those who use these mods, markers and sign-language are a hassle compared to ease-of-access TTS or CC.

HOH users? Nah, let's do a new IK system. That will help them, for sure.

I know. I just stated that it was gonna happen eventually, not that it was going to be a great idea to do it before putting the features inside the basegame.

I understand the backlash, I'm a Linux user that had to use a couple of mods and scripts just to make videos playable (Well, up until this update. Still wasn't great to be neglected for years, y'know?), but you can't say that it wasn't eventually gonna happen.

The dev team takes far too long to do things and I just hope that with more staff, someone can pull that stick out of everyone's ass.

I hope so too. VRC deserves more development and more developers. It's ok in this state (at least for my experience), but it can be so much better when it comes to accessibility. I guess we'll have to wait.
