The Moth
A moth learned to fly
Up in the sky
So far away he saw the light
Not a light but the light
Brighter than any he had ever seen
He traveled day and he traveled night
But it was still so far away
His way was dark and it started to get cold
Oh the poor soul!
He could not stop until he had reached the light
But it was so far away
The distance he traveled was immense indeed
But the light was still so far away
The shred of warmth kept him warm
It was enough for him to survive
The next day would be it the moth said
He said it everyday
Never once did he stop to wonder
For he could not
What if the light was too far away?
The lights all around him
Never caught his attention
For him they were dark
He wanted the light which was so far away
Closer and closer as he went
Hell bent! He flew as fast as a moth could
but the distance was large
And his wings so small
It wouldn’t have mattered after all
As big the wings could have been
Would still burn from the light if it had not been so far away
The moth would never know and would fly eternal
How could he?
The light was so far away……
In his last breath he flapped his wings
An inch closer he got to the Sun
The Moth died on his way
The light still shined so far away.
