I get the feeling that this is supposed to be someone’s last moments, yet somehow you managed to make it more sweet than bitter. “Right back to heaven” suggests that this person was an angel on earth, like their death was more of a return home than a transition.

You so perfectly captured the feeling of hope, faith even. Well done!

That was exactly what I was going for! You understood the message I was trying to portray really well. I had my grandma in my mind when I wrote this, so you're spot on.

A romance haiku! I like imagery.

Thanks for commenting! It's really interesting that you interpreted this as a romance haiku. I was more going for a loss of a loved one, how did you interpret this as a romance?

I thought of "heaven" as the time you spent together and the "flower of hope" at the possibility of seeing each other again.

I also first thought that it was a romantic haiku. I did realise on closer inspection that it more fit the theme of the death of someone beloved though...

Either way it's lovely! Short and sweet.

Thank you very much for checking it out! It's always interesting to see how people will interpret a poem differently.

I love this simple angelic Haiku. You can tell the meaning of someone who has passed away and then the person still alive is saying that they will meet the loved one again when they too shall pass. I've always loved expressions that use light symbolism like this this because it never fails to give me a fuzzy feeling.

What is your favorite flower of hope?

Mine has always been lavender. :)

Thank you for the amazing compliments! Lavender is a wonderful flower, mine have always been dandelions. :)

What a beautifully striking written-image.

The romance in the beginning is perfectly balanced by the slight kick in the emotions at the end. Lovely haiku OP

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our feedback guide, or look through the comment sections of any other post here, or click the links to the author's feedback above. If you're not sure whether your comments are feedback, or you have any other questions, please send us a modmail.
