[Monk] Maybe a dumb question, but which weapon is better?

I just bought an upgraded weapon and slammed a star amethyst in it and bam, the drop I was hoping to get before I purchased my current weapon. I'm trying to weigh the trade off in life on hit vs attack speed. I'm pretty sure the huge increase in life on hit on the weapon I just found outweighs the speed difference, but not sure. Please help.
