Iphone 3g is stuck in Connect to Itunes screen

Just yesterday my mom bought an iphone 3g from her friend. She did a reset from the phone itself but after it was finished the phone froze on a snowflake/apple logo. I connected it to a computer and tried to restore it, but now its stuck on the connect to itunes screen. Her other phone is going to get disconnected tomorrow, so she needs this fixed asap. what do I do from here?
