Got tired of building only with stone bricks, what you've been using/recomend?

I usually, when building things, use stone bricks on everything (walls, floor and roof but I got really tired of this.

I'm not at all a creative person, I build things I need pretty easily but I get stuck everytime it comes to make it looks pretty.

What do you guys recommend? Which "patterns" you've been using?

ps. I use the default texture pack and not planning to change it for now. ;)
