Advice on Coming out and Relationships.

a few months ago i have started seeing a boy i met online (i know usually a bad idea), things seemed to be amazing and we got along very well. To keep things short, I am not "out" to my friends or the general public yet... not planning to hide it but not having good luck with relationships i preferred to avoid the topic. I brought this issue up in conversation because i did not want my level of outness to effect us moving forward. Again he seemed cool about it all and was more of the do what you think is best mentality, however his tune changed recently and he said we should just be friends for now and get to know each other. Our level of communication had dropped significantly since then and i have not seen him since to discuss this all.

Being inexperienced with relationships i am unsure how to proceed and was hoping for some advice. I fear that bringing this topic up has caused exactly the opposite of my intentions and driven a wedge between the two of us. I just need help to process this all.

For the record I have been thinking its time to tell people about my sexuality and i have felt this way for quite some time although i am cautious because i dont want it to affect certain aspects of my life such as my career goals.

(my apologies for any spelling/gramatical errors that appear in this)
