So I might have made a faux-pas...

I asked a girl out online a little while ago. We'd worked together, I thought she was cute but, before I could really talk to her, she was transferred. I never saw her outside of work so I facebooked her and asked her to coffee.

Well, it's been a while and no response. Which is cool, shit happens. BUT, I just found out we have a mutual friend and we're both going to his small birthday dinner. I feel like this is gonna be insanely awkward.

My plan is to just act like nothing happened but a part of me wonders if maybe she's straight (although I was almost 100 percent certain she was gay) or not out. I'm just kind of nervous, hopefully I don't embarrass myself.

Anybody been in a similar situation? Is is terribly uncomfortable or am I overreacting?
