I'm feeling really inadequate right now.
I am a teacher, but not in a K-12 setting.
This current group of students I am teaching is much younger than the students I am used to teaching, so sometimes I feel as though I am not serving their best needs/interests at times.
I am halfway through this term with them, and I have had one incorrigible and misbehaved student (my very first), one who has anxiety and depression issues in the past, and one who has a medical condition.
I am there for them to make sure they learn, and it seems like they are enjoying themselves by learning and by working hard in and outside of class.
But when I notice that someone is in pain (today the student with anxiety/depression issues was in pain), or that someone is not there (one had something to do with his family during the second part of class, and one was in the hospital for treatment), I can't help but feel that I'm not doing enough for them.
I don't want to identify myself and what I do for a living. But I guess I just want to commiserate with someone who has been in my position.
Thank you.
