I come presenting an excel challenge...

I have what I think is a unique problem in excel. My familiarity with excel is admittedly light, and after about an hour and a half of looking into it, I have no idea on how to best accomplish my goal. What I am trying to do is compute a Plus/Minus, a stat you might find in sports, games, or even FPS shooters. I have a "game log", and "standings" on two separate sheets in the excel file in question. Logically what I need to do is this: Have Excel search a row of players for a specific player. EX) Find "Matt" in "Matt" "Joe" "Susan "Rob". If that player is in the row, Excel needs to return the point differential of that game,
Add it to the corresponding players plus/minus if the player is found in the Winners section, And subtract it if the player is found in the losers section.

This needs to be calculated for the first game of the game log, and then the formula must add and subtract to it for every game after that, and keep adding and subtracting for each game added to the "game log", and for each player.

Hlookup, nestedhlookups? if functions, nested ifs, and some sort of looping are my only ideas at this point.

Currently, my spreadsheet is organized into a "game log" where the players are presented into two columns of two cells, winners, and losers, after which comes the winning score, the losing score, and the easily calculated score differential of the game. Perhaps it should be organized differently?

If you guys have any advice, or could answer any part of this in any way, I think it would be cool. I will continue looking for answers on my own as well. Here is a google doc version, so that you may see my problem. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsF6Q9vakS1hdHVPdGtYdjgwUUR3NzdzaFV4MmZCYWc&pli=1#gid=0

Thanks
