What's wrong with eating meat?

I don't like vegetables and I love meat, especially steak. I've tried substitutes and there just isn't anything like it, especially regarding steak. A nice cut like a filet Mignon has no substitute. I think factory farming is wrong. I'm against animal cruelty which is why I buy certified humane meat. You can read the standard for beef cattle here.

The cattle are treated very well all the way up to the moment they die a painless death. They are tracked and monitored from calf to slaughter. They can't be given hormones or antibiotics. They can't be caged up. They have to be protected from wind and sun. There's so many rules and oversight which is why you should really read the standard before coming up with any objections.

I don't see how painlessly killing an animal is any different from killing a plant. There's no pain in either case so what's the difference? Why should I be a vegan? I'm willing to be converted if someone can convince me that what I'm doing is wrong. Point me to some books or state your case here. Remember, if you argue against factory farming, I'm just going to agree with you but that doesn't make the case for not eating meat. I don't think cows deserve the same consideration that humans do. The same goes for plants. A cow has no future. It never has an existential crisis. It doesn't worry about death. Neither do plants. Also, rabbits, mice and other animals are killed by farm equipment such as tractors, definitely not in a painless manner unlike cattle. So again, why should I be a vegan?
