Ideas as Invoker

Ok, so I'm an experienced Invoker player with 80+ games with him under the bag. I'm currently looking for new ways to play him. Item builds, skill builds, whatever.

I usually build standard QE with 2 spirits at level 10, max E then max W. Or QW when the team needs a disabler/initiator. Never tried WE. My core item build always consist of Orchid + Aghanim's. With QE I go for Assault Cuirass after them for the armor reduction, but the game is usually over before that.

I'm getting bored of this playstyle. Any suggestions? As an added question, How do the pros play him? I don't watch many streams so I don't know much about Invoker in competitive play.
