Do I need to get new shocks? [2007 Rav4 4cyl base model]
Over the past year or so I've noticed that when I go over simple bumps like railroad tracks or just cracks in the road, the feel of that bump is transferred all through the car and into my seat. The best way I can describe it is it's like hitting a bump and the tires are made of solid rubber (like those old timey tricycles from the 70s.)
I've googled it and the only info I've found is to test the bumper by bouncing on it and see if it keeps bouncing up and down. It doesn't do that really. In fact, I can hardly even push down on the corner at all. I'm not the heaviest guy in the world, either. It doesn't really go down all that much. But from the distance I can manage to get it down, it does seem to just spring right back up and stop right away.
What I do NOT notice when I've driving is the car bouncing up and down a lot. It seems ok in that regard. It's just that doesn't seem to be much absorption of the shock when I hit small bumps.
Am I making any sense?
