Someone stole my dog today. What the fuck can I do?

So far I looked a little on reddit already. Other posts say to search Craigslist, etc. to see if they're selling them.

But I just wanted to ask r/dogs for your advice

EDIT: We found him! And he actually was taken still, we think. All of his information, his collar, his chain with his tags, was taken off of him (but he was still clean, so his collar and chain didn't get ripped off in bushes or something, nor was he in a fight or attacked by another animal). And he was pretty far from our house where a nice person actually found him. And we heard from the pound that they had a dog that fit the description. So we think he was taken and someone didn't want him (???) and dumped him a mile or so from our house. It doesn't make a ton of sense but my family and I can't see how he would have gotten that far away (he's been very loyal so far, never leaving our property) AND the fact that both his collar and chain were taken off... Thanks guys! I appreciate your help regardless.

EDIT 2: Is it worth still calling the police and filing a report? Just since we think he was taken and that maybe they're scoping out our area? I'll talk to my parents about it. It can't hurt obviously.
