The rules of texting a gay bro...

I always seem to struggle with this. Whenever I meet a guy that I like I always have the urge to text them whether I have something to say to them or just to see "what's up". However, I never want to seem like a bother or annoying- I just really like the guy. Does anyone have any thoughts or rules to follow when texting a gay bro?
