Passing lane....
I often drive in the passing lane on sparsely driven highways, to avoid the occasional person driving in the right lane, or traffic that is on the onramp.
I usually drive 5–10 miles over the speed limit.
Frequently, people who happen to drive up behind me get annoyed that I'm driving too slowly. I usually get over into the right lane when I can. But the anger is so strange and intense.
If you think about it.
Thinking a person is wrong for driving 65 MPH in a 55 MPH highway lane, when you want to drive 80 MPH, is a bit like a bank robber getting angry at the person who blocked their getaway car by double parking.
In my thinking, speeding is more illegal than driving in the passing lane.
Anyone disagree? I've had this conversation with friends who immediately side with the speeders.
And I've been a speeder (before a near accident at high speeds). I know how fun it is to follow the flow of traffic and weave seamlessly in and out of cars and how annoying it is to have someone suddenly interrupt that flow, requiring you to change speed or direction. It is an interruption.
