Tank cycling with water conditioner versus "ammonia"

Hi Reddit, just starting my first tank. I have a 29 gallon with an external power filter, and 6 inch cylindrical airstone. Just finished filling with tap water and installing filter, adding gravel. I understand the ammonia cycle and how it's necessary to allow bacteria to build up in the filter for several weeks before actually adding fish.

I went to my nearby big-box pet store today trying to buy ammonia to begin tank cycling, only to find they do not sell bottled ammonia. Searching several other stores, the closest thing I could find was ammonia with some unspecified surfactant in it. Rep at the pet store strongly advised using water conditioning chemicals similar to these and that it was fine to put fish in the tank immediately after applying.

Has anyone used these? Are these safe to use? Or, should I use the grocery store ammonia with "surfactant"? Would a local fish store sell pure or diluted NH3 with no additional additives for cycling? Thanks!
