An unsettling theory about Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Spoiler warning, as this discusses the ending to the show.

At the beginning of the first episode of Gurren lagann, we see what we think is a preview of the final battle between Team Gurren and the Antispirals. It then cuts to Simon's intro speech and begins the story. However, doesn't it seem a bit strange that this is almost exactly the same way the inter-dimensional labyrinth is introduced? This gives us a hint of the horrible truth about what has been going on. The Team Gurren we see in the first episode is the only 'real' Team Gurren, as everything we see in the show is simply an iteration of the labyrinth.

In the end of the series, we see a giant battle between Team Gurren and the antispirals, but this makes no sense, why would you fight a losing battle when you can just end it right there? The Antispiral makes a half hearted excuse about wanting to break their spirits, but its true desire is to stop them, not break their spirits.

So in the end, the 'real' Antispiral doesn't make an effort to fight, he simply traps them all in the labyrinth and goes on to keeping the spiral races in check across the universe, and that's why the intro ends so abruptly.

Now Simon has a nearly unbreakable will, and even unknowingly trapped would put up a spectacular fight. The story we see is the one where he has gone through nearly every iteration possible until he found the one possibility where he is victorious, even going as far as to get trapped in another labyrinth (inception anyone?). However, is the victory we see a real one, or just another trap set in the labyrinth to keep them under control?
