Reddit, I grew up in a house with no consoles. What retro games would you recommend, that still stand the test of time?

When I was a kid (1990) we had a DOS 386 computer, and a few games. Around 2002~ I got my first "proper" gaming computer, and so played things like Half Life and CnC. I've never owned a console though.

I'm just wondering, what fantastic games did I miss out on because of my terrible childhood (That's a joke, my childhood was great)?
